TaylorMade to Launch 1st 5-Piece Golf Ball

Many golfers say that their golf ball performs great in their short game but sacrifices distance, while other golfers said the complete opposite, so to overcome this, TaylorMade have produced the revolutionary Penta TP golf ball, which performs well in all areas.

The Penta TP golf ball is the first Tour golf ball to feature 5 solid layers, with each layer engineered to optimise performance in five key shot categories that skilled golfers need – driver, long-irons, middle-irons, short-irons and short wedge shots. The 5 layers of Penta TP golf ball include the core, inner mantle, middle mantle, outer mantle and cover, and each of these plays a critical role in optimising the performance of each of the five key shots.

This new golf ball will suit golfers with a variety of swing speeds, with slower swings obtaining a benefit from the outermost layers, and golfers with a faster swing speed obtaining benefit from all of the layers. When you move into the scoring zone on the golf course, and take your wedge out of your golf bag, the Penta TP golf ball helps to generate more spin, which will be particularly important after the groove-change rule to be implemented in high-level competitions by the USGA and R& A in 2010.

The Penta TP golf ball is already being used on Tour, first by Sergio Garcia and Retief Goosen at the PGA Championship, and then later by Justin Rose, Y.E. Yang, and Jason Day. Professional golfers usually take months of testing before changing their golf ball, but TaylorMade discovered that golfers were switching to the Penta TP after as little as 9 holes, showing the dramatic effect it has on their golf.
